Visa Small Ticket

Visa has special rates for merchants who process sales that are under $15

Almost all merchants are eligible for the Visa CPS Small Ticket program. See below for the full qualifications – but typically, if you accept a sale that’s under $15, it will qualify for lower interchange rates from Visa.

Qualifications

  • Transaction amount less than or equal to $15.00.
  • Magnetic stripe, contactless, or chip data read, obtain customer’s signature.
  • Authorize and settle within 1 day.
  • Obtain and pass 1 valid electronic authorization.

What are the rates?

CPS Small Ticket - 1.65% + $0.04

Downgrade (for no AVS): CPS Card-Not-Present, 1.80% + $0.10/txn
Downgrade (any other reason): EIRF, 2.30% + $0.10/txn

Signature Preferred - 2.10% + $0.10

Downgrade (for keyed): Signature Preferred CNP, 2.40% + $0.10/txn
Downgrade (any other reason): Standard, 2.95% + $0.10/txn

CPS Small Ticket Debit - 1.55% + $0.04

Downgrade (for no AVS): Card-Not-Present Debit, 1.65% + $0.15/txn
Downgrade (any other reason):  EIRF Debit, 1.75% + $0.20/txn

CPS Small-Ticket Prepaid - 1.60% + $0.05

Downgrade (for no AVS): Card-Not-Present Prepaid, 1.75% + $0.20
Downgrade (any other reason): EIRF Prepaid, 1.80% + $0.20/txn

Regulated Debit - 0.05% + $0.22

Downgrade: This card type does not downgrade.

Who's eligible?

Most merchants are eligible. Only the following merchants are Not Eligible:
Automated Fuel Dispensers (MCC 5542)
Direct Marketing (MCC 5960, 5962, 5964-5969)
Financial Institutions-Merchandise and Services (MCC 6012)
Wire Transfer Money Orders (MCC 4829)
Betting (MCC 7995)
Intra-Government Purchases (MCC 9405)
Intra-Company Purchases (MCC 9950)
