Mastercard Travel & Entertainment (T&E)

Mastercard provides a specific rate structure for Restaurants, Hotels, Car Rentals, and other “T&E” merchants

Travel & Entertainment merchants typically pay slightly higher rates than other merchant types. This rate category will apply to “premium” cards accepted by T&E merchants.

Qualifications

  • Be classified as a Restaurant (MCC 5812), Lodging (MCC 7011), Car Rental (MCC 7512), or Airline/Cruise Line/Travel Agency.
  • Magnetic stripe, contactless, or chip data read, or key-entered, obtain customer’s signature when face-to-face.
  • Authorize and settle within 2 days, hotels and car rental agencies are exempt.
  • Obtain and pass 1 valid electronic authorization.
  • Authorization and settlement MCC must match.
  • Car Rental merchants must include Rental Agreement number and Return Location ID.
  • Restaurant transactions must be greater than $60.

What are the rates?

World Card T&E – 2.30% + $0.10

Downgrade (any reason)Standard, 2.95% + $0.10/txn

World Elite T&E – 2.75% + $0.10

Downgrade (any reason)Standard, 3.25% + $0.10/txn

Who’s eligible?

Only restaurants, lodging merchants, car rental merchants, and airlines/cruise-lines will receive these rates.
