See The World Through Grateful Eyes
All my life I have looked at the world as if the glass was half empty, which is not to say that I am a pessimist, but that for some reason I have programmed myself to be more affected by what’s missing in my life rather than what has been provided. Lately, there is so much pain and suffering in so many areas of the world, that I find it is even more challenging to keep positive. I am tempted to list a few of the recent disturbing events by name, but the media is already doing a great job at that and I don’t wish for this to be a downer. Perhaps the greatest remedy to being in that space of feeling that “something is missing” or of experiencing any lack in one’s life, is to simply “see the world through grateful eyes.” Surely, amidst whatever travails and pain that has arisen in your life there is something to be grateful for. I’m not advocating playing the comparison game where we weigh our life against what others are experiencing, although for sure, that is a valid point of view. So here is a relevant question, “How do you know that you are alive?” I mean right now at this very moment, just pause and answer the question, “How do I know that I am alive?” Immediately, the sensory gates open: you know you are alive because your eyes are seeing, your ears are listening, you skin is feeling, your mind is thinking, etc. Plus, if you really still yourself, you realize that you are breathing. What a wonderful gift that we get to experience life as a human on this most amazing planet! One may not feel that life is such a gift until a sense of gratitude arises. In fact, I believe that true abundance doesn’t exist in the absence of gratitude. Maybe you will give pause to think deeply about this … it’s important! We sincerely wish that you experience much gratitude, joy, and abundance this holiday season and throughout the new year!
